India offers 200 fully funded scholarships for Sri Lankan students for 2026–2027 academic year

The High Commission of India in Colombo has announced the availability of 200 fully funded scholarships for Sri Lankan nationals for the 2026–2027 academic session. 


These scholarships are offered by the Government of India for studies at prestigious Indian institutions across a diverse range of subject areas, excluding Medical/Paramedical and Law courses.


The scholarships are divided into four schemes:  


- Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme: Covers undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs in Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, Humanities, Arts, and more. 

 

- Maulana Azad Scholarship Scheme: Focuses on Master’s Degree programs, especially in Engineering, Science, and Agriculture.  


- Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme: Provides undergraduate programs in Information Technology, leading to B.E. and B.Tech degrees.  


- Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme:Supports undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD studies across various disciplines.


Each scholarship includes full tuition fees, a monthly allowance, an annual grant for books and stationery, airfare to India, educational tours, hostel facilities, and other benefits.


The selection process involves consultation between the Indian government and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education.
