Minister of Energy Anura Karunathilake stated that Sri Lanka will tighten enforcement of the fuel QR system in the coming months to curb fuel consumption and reduce pressure on the economy.

He noted that despite reductions achieved through the QR and quota systems, fuel demand remains above the level the country can sustain.

The minister added that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ministry of Digital Technology will work together to strengthen implementation of the system.
