The Cabinet of Ministers has approved obtaining technical assistance from the Mahaweli Consultation Bureau to implement rural community water supply projects.

The approval covers feasibility studies, engineering designs, procurement documents and project supervision during 2026–2027.

The move aims to complete 48 out of 175 unfinished community water projects under the Community Water Abhimani programme.

The proposal was presented by the Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply.
