President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will inaugurate the national ‘Himikama’ freehold title deed programme in Anuradhapura tomorrow(27).

The ceremony will be held at the North Central Provincial Council Auditorium in Korakahawewa.

A total of 500 freehold title deeds will be distributed to beneficiaries in the Anuradhapura District.

The programme grants absolute ownership of lands issued under the Land Development Ordinance No. 19 of 1935.

The President’s Media Division noted that the initiative will remove conditions attached to permits and issue title deeds under the State Lands Ordinance No. 8 of 1947.

The programme is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation and the Department of the Land Commissioner General.
