Sri Lanka Police have seized a massive haul of narcotics and firearms from three lorries in Tangalle today (22).
The bust resulted in the recovery of 245 kilograms of heroin and 380 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’).
The discovery was made this morning in the Seenimodara area after police found the bodies of two individuals inside an abandoned house.
A thorough search of a lorry parked on the premises led to the recovery of a massive quantity of illegal narcotics, with Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) for the Southern Province Kithsiri Jayalath stating that the bulk of the drugs were found concealed in a larger lorry.
Additionally, police seized five pistols and a T-56 assault rifle, raising concerns about organized criminal activity connected to the operation.
Investigations are ongoing.
