President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will chair a special discussion this evening (07) on the current situation in Sri Lanka’s prisons, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala stated.

Speaking in Parliament, the Minister noted that the government is taking steps to bring the situation under control while ensuring the safety of inmates and prison officers.

He also stated that urgent measures will be taken following the meeting, with the participation of relevant stakeholders.
