The Government has stipulated conditions on the payment of bonuses to staff members of commercial corporations, statutory boards and state-owned companies for the year 2023.
Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe stated that bonuses for 2023 should be paid if the state institutions have earned profits during the fiscal year 2022 and have paid at least 30% of the profit after the tax as a dividend to the Consolidated Fund.
The Minister noted that any commercial corporations, statutory boards or state-owned companies that have failed to pay at least 30% of the profit after tax as dividend to the Consolidated Fund or incurred a loss during the fiscal year 2022, are not entitled to pay bonuses to the employees, on the profitability of the institution.
