The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers are expected today in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Rainfall of up to 75 mm is likely in some areas.

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected in parts of the Northern and North Central provinces, as well as Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds, lightning and thundershowers.
