The Rubber Development Department and the Survey Department have launched a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based programme to map all rubber cultivation areas.
This initiative is to comply with new European Union (EU) regulations restricting imports linked to deforestation.
By 2025, the Government plans to collect geographical coordinates for all small-scale rubber lands.
Mapped estates will receive a free QR code which farmers must provide to traders.
Estate owners are requested to present their planting licence, land deeds, and land plan during the field surveys.
