The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee selected a squad led by experienced all-rounder Lahiru Madushanka to take part in the HK International Cricket Sixes organised by Cricket Hong Kong, China.
Madushanka who represents Bloomfield in domestic first-class tournaments has won four ODI caps and three T20I caps for Sri Lanka and has also stood out during the recently concluded NSL limited overs tournament as well. Among two other players with experience are Sandun Weerakkody and Dhananjaya Lakshan.
The seven-member squad is scheduled to face Oman and then Bangladesh in the first round of the tournament which consists of 12 teams and to be played at the Kowloon Cricket Club grounds in Hong Kong.
Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who is the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, approved the squad. The tournament will be held from 1-3 November 2024 in Hong Kong with Sri Lanka having last won it 17 years ago.
