Sri Lanka’s air quality back to normal

30 Jan 2025 | BY Staff Writer

The Air Quality Index (AQI) across Sri Lanka returned to normal levels today (30), according to the Central Environmental Authority (CEA).

After exceeding 150 in several areas over the past two days, AQI levels have now dropped below 50 in many parts of the country, particularly in the central region.

Colombo, Galle, Matara, and Jaffna recorded values close to 100, while no locations reported AQI levels above 150.

Accordingly, authorities urged individuals with respiratory conditions to remain cautious, as human activities remain a key factor in air pollution.
