The State of Public Emergency in Sri Lanka has been extended from January 28, according to an extraordinary gazette signed by the Secretary to the President.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake issued the proclamation under the Public Security Ordinance, bringing Part II of the Ordinance into effect nationwide.
The gazette noted the extension is aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining essential services.
The President also introduced amended regulations titled the Emergency (Miscellaneous Provisions and Powers) Regulations No. 1 of 2026.
