The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers at times across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, and Northern provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thunderstorms are also expected in other areas of the island after 1:00 p.m.

The Met Department warns that some locations are likely to receive fairly heavy rainfall, with precipitation exceeding 50 mm.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
