A warm weather advisory has been issued for residents of the North-Central, Eastern, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Kurunegala, Monaragala, Vavuniya, Mullaittivu, and Kilinochchi.
The Department of Meteorology forecasts that the heat index—the temperature felt by the human body may rise to the ‘Caution Level’ in some areas within these provinces and districts during the day tomorrow (30).
The heat index is calculated based on relative humidity and maximum temperature, representing the temperature perceived on the body.
The Department warns that prolonged exposure to the sun and outdoor activities can cause fatigue, and continued activity may lead to heat cramps.
Residents are advised to stay well-hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities to avoid heat-related health issues.
