Sri Lanka Police says further investigations are underway into the death of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne.

Police stated that investigations were launched after he was admitted to the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa, with gunshot injuries sustained at his residence in Thalangama.

His remains have been placed at the hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted. Wickramaratne served as the 35th IGP of Sri Lanka from 2020 to 2023.
