The Welfare Benefits Board has announced that benefit payments for the first round of Aswesuma recipients will resume in July, following the completion of beneficiary surveys.

Chairman Nimal Kotawalagedara stated that the surveys are expected to conclude by the end of May, warning that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who provide false information or obtain benefits fraudulently.

He also noted that the benefit period for 2023 first-round recipients has been extended until June to facilitate the ongoing data verification process.
