The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has temporarily lifted the overseas travel ban on former Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
The court's decision came during a hearing where his lawyer requested travel permission for religious reasons to India.
The Bribery Commission opposed the request, but the magistrate approved the temporary lift until the next court date on 27 March.
Ranatunga was also ordered to pay Rs. 5 million in personal bail, while his guarantors remain under travel restrictions.
The case involves allegations of causing a loss of nearly Rs. 4.75 million to the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation through unlawful appointments during his tenure.
