An ‘Amber’ advisory has been issued by the Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka warning of severe lightning in multiple provinces.

The advisory, effective from noon today (02) until 11:30 p.m., covers the Northern, North-Central, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, and Uva provinces.

Thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning are expected after 1:00 p.m., along with temporary strong winds in some areas.

The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage and ensure safety during the adverse weather conditions.
