The Sri Lanka Railway Guards’ Union has called off the railway strike that was scheduled to take place following discussions with the Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister.

According to the union, an investigation into the incident at the centre of the dispute will be conducted within the next 48 hours, after which a decision will be issued.

Passenger train services are expected to operate normally today(10), while the union noted that it will withdraw only from freight train operations, potentially affecting cargo transport services.
