The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) began trade union action at 8 a.m. today (17), protesting the 2026 Budget’s failure to address longstanding issues in the health sector and concerns affecting doctors.
As part of the action, doctors across all hospitals will restrict several services, including issuing prescriptions for medicines to be bought from private pharmacies and recommending laboratory tests from external facilities.
The GMOA stated that the protest will continue until authorities take meaningful steps to resolve the highlighted issues
