- Shooting in Wanathamulla, target escapes unscathed; A 30-yr.-old beaten to death with helmet
The bodies of two youths who were shot and killed with a pistol-type firearm have been discovered in Thorakolayaya, Middeniya, the Police stated. The deceased are two men aged between 25 and 30 years.
The shooting occurred yesterday morning (25), and currently, three special investigative teams have joined the Middeniya Police to commence investigations into the incident.
Earlier, on Tuesday (24), a shooting incident was reported at Wanathamulla in Borella. Two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle had carried out the shooting at around 5.45 p.m., targeting a person outside his residence at Dumpekawatte in Borella. However, it is reported that the target of the shooting had managed to escape unhurt during the incident. The gunmen had fired several rounds before fleeing the scene themselves, the Police said.
Elsewhere, a 30-year-old has been beaten to death with a safety helmet in Halwatura, Bulathsinhala, according to the Police. The incident occurred as a result of a dispute that escalated between two individuals. The victim was initially admitted to the Horana Base Hospital, then transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment, and later taken back to the Horana Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. The deceased was a resident of Halwatura, Bulathsinhala. A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault.
