A man was hospitalised following a police shooting in the 18th Mile Post area, Katunayake around 10:00 a.m. today (06).

Police responded to reports of a disorderly individual who allegedly attempted to attack an officer with a sharp weapon.

Officers shot the suspect below the knee in self-defence.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Wijaya Kumaratunga Memorial Hospital in Seeduwa. Investigations are ongoing.
