Japanese Defence Minister Gen Nakatani met Sri Lankan Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya today (4) at Temple Trees to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The discussion focused on defence collaboration, regional security, and maritime stability, with Minister Nakatani reaffirming Japan’s commitment to Indo-Pacific peace.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya welcomed Japan’s support, especially through JICA, and outlined Sri Lanka’s security vision, including climate and humanitarian roles.

Both parties also discussed boosting ties in trade, investment, and tourism.

The meeting was attended by Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata and senior officials from both sides.
