Sri Lanka earned US$1.51 billion from tourism during the first six months of 2026, down from US$1.71 billion in the same period last year, according to the Central Bank.
Tourism revenue also declined to US$151.1 million in June from US$155.7 million in May.
Meanwhile, worker remittances fell to US$695 million in June from US$847 million in May, although total remittances for the first half of 2026 increased to US$4.6 billion, compared to US$3.74 billion a year earlier.
