The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning of severe lightning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces.

The advisory, issued at 12.00 noon today(20), will remain in effect until 11.00 p.m.

Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several locations in the affected provinces after 2.00 p.m., with the possibility of temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage and ensure safety during lightning activity.
