The Attorney General’s Department told the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka that indictments will be filed within one month against former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon.

The case relates to the 2022 attack on the ‘Aragalaya’ protest at Galle Face Green.

Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath informed the court that steps are underway to file charges.

The hearing was before a bench led by Chief Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz.

The case will be taken up again on September 2, 2026.
