The Cabinet has approved a proposal to utilise old court complex buildings in Galle Fort for a tourism promotion project.
The proposal was presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development.
The plan includes relocating the High Court and Magistrate’s Court to a new complex in Beligaha.
The existing buildings in Galle Fort will be handed over to the Urban Development Authority for a public-private partnership project.
The initiative is part of efforts to promote Galle Fort as a world heritage tourism zone.
