- Says no issues with QR code and odd-even systems functioning simultaneously
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said that none of the issues being raised by the Petroleum Distributors' Association regarding unresolved operational issues affecting fuel stations have been communicated to the Corporation so far.
Speaking to The Daily Morning yesterday (6), CPC Managing Director (MD) Mayura Neththikumarage said that no documentation regarding a requested meeting with the CPC over operational issues, including the difficulties of distributing oil while both quick response (QR) code and odd-even number plate based systems are in action, and delays in deliveries, has been received by them as is being accused by the said Association.
He further added that no such fuel delivery delays are occurring with the CPC, and that the QR code and the odd-even systems being in action simultaneously is not an operation handled by the distributors.
He further added that no silent protest, as was warned, had taken place in front of the CPC yesterday (6).
The Association had announced over the last weekend that fuel station owners across Sri Lanka would hold a silent protest yesterday at 9.30 a.m. in front of the CPC. They have said that the District representatives of the Association met on 30 March and sent a letter requesting a meeting with the CPC regarding a few operational issues, and that no response was received, forcing them to hold the silent protest.
Attempts to contact the Petroleum Dealers' Association proved futile.
