Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called for a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate the alleged transfer of US$2.5 million from the Treasury to a third-party account.

He stated that the committee should be chaired by the opposition and include majority opposition representation.

Premadasa alleged that the matter has not been disclosed to Parliament or the Committee on Public Finance.

He noted that an independent and transparent investigation is required into the incident.
