The Maligakanda Magistrate's Court has informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that it can be granted permission to examine CCTV footage from the National Hospital in Colombo. 

This is part of an ongoing investigation into social media posts that falsely claimed Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya visited former President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the hospital.

The magistrate has ordered the CID to first record statements from the Prime Minister and her security personnel before proceeding with the CCTV examination.
