Sri Lanka’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) recorded growth in both manufacturing and services sectors in January 2026, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The Manufacturing PMI rose to 56.1, while the Services PMI reached 64.5.

The Central Bank noted that manufacturing expanded at a slower rate compared to December 2025, with all sub-indices remaining above the neutral threshold. New Orders and Production also expanded.

Services activities continued to grow, supported by wholesale and retail trade, accommodation, food and beverage services, and financial services with increased lending activity.
