The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has advised small fishing boats and one-day fishing vessels not to go to sea from Matara to Pottuvil due to dangerous sea conditions.

The Department of Meteorology has warned that winds in the area could reach 70 kmph, with seas becoming rough to very rough.

Fishermen have been urged to follow weather advisories and safety instructions.
