The Supreme Court has adjourned proceedings for 15 minutes to decide on requests for petitions challenging the proposed 22nd Constitutional Amendment to be heard by a full bench of all sitting Supreme Court judges.
The request was made by several President’s Counsel before the five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.
The Solicitor General maintained that the Chief Justice has discretion under Article 132(3) of the Constitution to determine the composition of a judicial bench.
