The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas from Kankesanturai to Puttalam via Mannar and Hambantota to Pottuvil.

Gusty winds of up to 50–60 kmph are expected, while wave heights may reach 2–2.5 metres in some sea areas.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised to remain vigilant.
