The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for heavy rainfall in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Northern provinces and Anuradhapura District.

Issued at 3.30 p.m. today (20), the advisory remains in effect until 3.30 p.m. tomorrow (21).

A low-level atmospheric disturbance near Sri Lanka is expected to intensify rainfall from this evening, with some areas likely to receive over 100 mm. The public has been urged to remain alert and follow safety instructions from authorities.
