The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers are expected today in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in some areas.

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected in the Northern and North Central provinces, and the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
