The Regional Centre for Maritime Studies (RCMS) held its inaugural Advisory Board Meeting last week at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).
The inaugural event brought together key representatives from Sri Lanka and France. During the meeting, board members thoroughly discussed and formally validated two critical documents: The Strategic Plan and The Communication Plan for the Centre. These foundational documents will guide the RCMS's future operations and outreach activities. Additionally, the board engaged in strategic discussions regarding the centre's expansion and future initiatives.
Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy in Sri Lanka Marie-Noëlle Duris, KDU Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, Sri Lanka Navy Director General Operations Rear Admiral Buddika Liyanagamage, Maritime Security and Safety Advisor to the French Embassy, Commander Jean Baptiste Trouche, RCMS Director Captain (ND) Chamila Mendis, Director of Studies (French Embassy) Lieutenant Commander Carine Buzaud, KDU Director of Studies Lieutenant Commander (N) Manaranga Thilakarathne attended the meeting.
