Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena’s wife, Chinari Lakmanthi Hettiarachchi, has been remanded unti 6 October following her arrest by the Bribery Commission.

She is accused of allegedly offering a Rs. 50,000 bribe to an office assistant at the Colombo High Court to influence a judge to impose a suspended prison sentence in a case involving her husband.

The remand order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after considering submissions from the Bribery Commission and lawyers representing the suspect.
