A group of eight individuals, including children as young as 12, was rescued after going missing in the Hanthana Mountain Range in Kandy.

They lost their way amidst heavy rain and thick mist while exploring the area on the evening of 28 June.

Following a report by concerned parents, the Army and Police launched a coordinated search operation and successfully located the group.

All rescued individuals have been admitted to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for medical evaluation.
