The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) announced that a special bus service will be implemented to facilitate public transportation for people traveling for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations.

According to the SLTB, 500 additional buses will be deployed to assist those returning to their hometowns for the festive period.

This programme will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will be conducted from 9 to 13 April, while the second phase will operate from 16 to 20 April to provide transportation to those travelling to and from villages respectively.
