An accident took place when a van traveling along the Matara–Akuressa main road collided with a container truck that was parked by the roadside near the Palatuwa exit of the Southern Expressway this morning (8).

According to Police, 12 individuals sustained injuries during the accident and were admitted to the General Hospital, Matara. 

Police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
