The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has resumed its investigation into the assassination of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga, which occurred on January 9, 2009.

The Ministry of Public Security confirmed that this new inquiry is being conducted in addition to previous investigations.

In a related development, the CID has also forwarded the investigation file regarding the abduction and disappearance of journalist Keith Noyahr to the Attorney General (AG) for further action.
