The Department of Meteorology (DoM) has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas around Sri Lanka.

The advisory is in effect from today (06) 11.30 a.m. to tomorrow (07) 11.30 a.m.

Sea areas from Kankesanturai to Kalpitiya via Mannar may be very rough, with winds up to 60–70 kmph.

Other coastal sea areas from Trincomalee to Pottuvil may also be rough with winds up to 50–60 kmph.

Fishing and naval communities have been advised to remain alert.
