Sri Lanka’s cumulative merchandise export earnings between January to June of 2026 amounted to $ 7,073.31 million (m), reflecting an 8.95 % year-on-year (y-o-y) increase compared to the same period in 2025, while total export earnings for the year surpassed $ 9 billion (b), monthly data released by the Export Development Board said.

According to the data released, combined merchandise and services export earnings reached an estimated $ 9,012.24 m during the January-June 2026 period. Further analysis indicates that cumulative merchandise export earnings for the period January to June 2026 amounted to $ 7,073.31 m, reflecting an 8.95 % increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Meanwhile, services exports reached an estimated $ 1,938.94 m during the January-June 2026 period, an increase of 4.49% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 

According to provisional data released by Sri Lanka Customs, together with estimated export values for Gems and Jewellery and Petroleum Products, Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports amounted to $ 1,314.10 m in June 2026, representing a 15.09% year-on-year increase compared to June 2025.

The services export sector generated an estimated $ 344.52 m in June 2026, reflecting a 3.75% increase over the corresponding month of the previous year.  Consequently, Sri Lanka’s total exports, comprising both merchandise and services, reached an estimated $ 1,658.62 m in June 2026, recording an 12.53% year-on-year growth compared to June 2025.
