Another intervenient petition has been filed before the Supreme Court in support of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill presented by the Government.

The petition was filed by Nava Sihala Urumaya leader Sarath Manamendra.

It seeks a Supreme Court determination that the Bill is consistent with the Constitution and can be passed without a referendum.
