Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has highlighted Sri Lanka’s traditional agricultural heritage and sustainable food practices at the inaugural Global Conscious Food Systems Summit 2026 in Bhutan.
Delivering the keynote address, the Prime Minister noted that Sri Lanka’s traditional food systems reflected an understanding of sustainability and living in harmony with nature.
She also highlighted traditional knowledge in food production, storage, preservation and consumption.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya later joined Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay for a panel discussion on conscious leadership and sustainable development.
The summit was jointly hosted by the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Conscious Food Systems Alliance and the United Nations Development Programme.
