State Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon stated that Minister Ramesh Pathirana has been proposed as the General Secretary of the new alliance which is being formed by the majority of MPs from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

The alliance consists of SLPP MPs who have decided to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential elections.
