The High Commission of Sri Lanka gifted a collection of books to the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore, to establish a dedicated ‘Sri Lanka Collection’ within the Central Library’s International Section in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Singapore.
The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore Senarath Dissanayake ceremonially handed over the collection of Sri Lankan books to National Library Board of Singapore Deputy Director, Partnership and Strategy Michelle LAU on 24 September.
The newly launched Sri Lanka Collection is expected to offer Singaporean readers a window into Sri Lanka’s rich and diverse culture, heritage and natural environment and further strengthen people-to-people ties.
High Commissioner Dissanayake expressed that the ‘Sri Lanka Collection’ could be regarded as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
