A retired intelligence officer of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has filed a petition seeking legal action against Mahaviru Day, commemorating the liberation of Tigers of Tamil Eelam’s (LTTE) cadres.
The event is planned to be held in the North and East, starting from 27 November.
The petition was called before the Appeals Court today (24).
Senior State Counsel Shaminda Wickrema gave an undertaking to the Court of Appeal that action would be taken against such individuals, under the Criminal Procedure Code.
