The Police Media Division has issued a warning regarding a circulating fraudulent email, falsely claiming to be from Shani Abeysekara, the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

The authorities confirmed that the email was not genuine and was not issued or authorized by the CID.

The scam emails are being sent from the addresses http://noucinatacha20@gmail.com and police http://cid.lk@gmail.com. 

These messages are believed to be part of an attempt to deceive the public, carry out financial scams, or unlawfully collect personal information.

The CID has launched investigations to identify those responsible for sending these misleading messages and to take appropriate legal action. 

The Police Media Division strongly advises the public to exercise caution, avoid sharing personal or sensitive information via email, and remain vigilant against such fraudulent communications.
